The Edmonton Freestyle Ski Club is a volunteer-driven organization, with our dedicated board composed entirely of volunteers. While we have paid coaches, all other operations are supported by parent volunteers. At registration, each family is required to pay a $300 volunteer deposit, which will be refunded upon completing the 15-hour volunteer commitment.

There are numerous volunteer opportunities throughout the season, accommodating a range of skills and availability. As busy parents ourselves, we understand time constraints and strive to provide flexible opportunities. If you have any special skills that could benefit the team, please reach out to our volunteer coordinator.

In the past, parents with skills in law, construction, design, photography, and videography have made significant contributions while fulfilling their volunteer hours. Below are some common volunteer opportunities made available throughout the year on SignUpGenius.com as the season progresses.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions or sign up and learn as you go! If specific skills are required for a task, we’ll let you know in advance.

  • Board Member: Our board is entirely volunteer-run, and we’re always looking for committed and enthusiastic parents to join us.

  • Mogul Chopping: This is one of our most crucial volunteer roles. Once the mogul course is built (usually in early January), we need parents to help maintain it at the start of each training day. Each signup earns you one hour of volunteer credit, and with enough help, the task may only take 10-15 minutes. (Check the SignUpGenious link for available times to sign up)

  • Lodge Parents: Be present in the lodge to assist coaches and athletes. In case of an emergency, you may need to contact other parents, for which you’ll have access to a contact list.

  • Casinos: Every two years, we host a casino event, which is our largest fundraiser. Participating in one casino fulfills your entire volunteer commitment for the season.

  • Mogul Build and Tear Down: At the start and end of each season, we need help setting up fencing around the mogul course and shaping the moguls. A team effort makes this task quick and efficient!

  • Club Competition: Our club hosts a competition every two years and this is our year! We will host Showdown at the Ridge February 28 - March 2, 2025 at our home hill Sunridge! We’ll need many volunteers for various roles, including starters, runners, choppers, and more.
